Sanctuary Radio – Listen Live!
Paul’s journey into the music industry began quite unexpectedly in 1992 while working as a nightclub bouncer at the popular Swindon venue, Cairo’s. One evening, a miscommunication between the club’s management and the scheduled DJ resulted in the DJ failing to appear for the night.
At the time, Paul had already developed a strong passion for music and spent much of his free time practising at home on his mixer. Seeing an opportunity to help, he volunteered to step in and DJ for the evening.
With limited options available, the club’s management reluctantly agreed to let him take control of the decks. What happened next would shape the course of Paul’s career. Not only did he successfully deliver the night’s entertainment, but his performance impressed both the management and the crowd. Soon after, he was offered a regular Thursday night slot, and through his growing popularity he eventually became Cairo’s main Saturday night resident DJ.
After nearly five successful years at Cairo’s, Paul had firmly established his reputation on the club circuit. His growing profile led to performances at a variety of venues across Berkshire, including a short-term residency at the in-house nightclub at the Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell.
Despite his success in clubs, Paul had always been passionate about radio broadcasting. After many years behind the decks, he began exploring radio through Hospital Radio — an experience that confirmed his passion for broadcasting.
Over time, Paul worked with several radio stations. However, he became increasingly frustrated by restrictive station policies, unrealistic expectations, and broken promises that often-limited presenters’ creative freedom — particularly when it came to music selection and show direction.
Paul decided the best solution was to find a station that cared for and respected presenters for the long term, and that’s where he found Sanctuary Radio.
Sanctuary Radio broadcasts globally 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has quickly established itself as a respected presence within the radio industry. With a growing lineup that includes many well-known names, the station continues to build a loyal and expanding audience around the world.
