Jim McCann aka “Hamish McFunky” I was what you would call a “hobbyist” DJ, and worked in local pubs and smaller clubs in and around Glasgow in the mid 80’s to early 90s. I was given the name Hamish McFunky, not really all that long ago by someone in a Facebook Group who thought it was quite apt for me.
Even though I stopped DJ’ing to concentrate on starting a business, I never lost my love for the golden eras of classic funk and soul,
Earlier this year , I was approached by a friend who was involved with a local Internet based charity community radio station and asked if I would be interested in becoming a volunteer, presenting a weekly show of my favourite music. I jumped at the offer and for the past six months I’ve been presenting a two hour weekly show of “Funk, Soul, Jazz Funk and a little bit of Disco”,
In addition to this I’ve been presenting a two hour Sunday Night Slow Jams, features love songs from both today and the past.
So I’m fairly new to broadcasting!!, and I’m thrilled to be joining Sanctuary Radio, a brand new radio station dedicated to promoting the very best of funk, soul and fun.
I can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all, bringing the timeless classics and vibrant energy of soul music to our listeners.
